Depending on the environmental circumstances, a combination of several different discharge hoses and pipes is necessary for the discharge process. There are several basic components of discharge lines in slurry transport.
- HDPE pipe-Discharge hoses-Plastic floats
- Steel pipe-Discharge hoses-Plastic floats
- Discharge hoses-Plastic floats
- Self-floating dredging hoses
A steel pipe is smoother than a rubber-lined pipeline and therefore the pipeline resistance of a steel pipe is lower than the pipeline resistance of a rubber pipeline. Steel pipes are non-flexible and generally non-floating, but can be made to float with ring floats, pontoons, or they can be produced as floating pipelines with a floating body.
Floating hoses must be flexible and robust for the most challenging of streme working environments. Standard floating hoses are made of a rubber wear liner and have a flotation body around the entire length of the hose. They can be armoured with steel rings for higher wear-resistance, while still guaranteeing flexibility.
Steel pipe has better working pressure performance than HDPE dredge pipe with also higher cost.
